Difference Between Rotary Vane Blower and Roots Blower

Both rotary vane blowers and roots blowers are types of positive displacement machines used for air and gas movement. However, they differ significantly in design, operation, and applications.

 
Feature Rotary Vane Blower Roots Blower
Working Principle Utilizes rotating vanes inside a cylindrical housing. The vanes extend and retract, trapping and compressing air. Operates with two counter-rotating lobes that trap air between the lobes and the casing, moving it along without compression.
Airflow Type Provides smooth, pulse-free airflow due to gradual compression. Produces pulsating airflow, though modern 3-lobe designs reduce this effect.
Pressure Range Typically delivers lower pressure, making it suitable for moderate applications. Can handle higher pressure, suitable for demanding applications.
